Vaison la Romaine
Jewel of Roman Provence as its name indicates, Vaison la Romaine is one of the best sights of the Haut Vaucluse. The city, of highest archaeological interest, is divided by the river Ouvèze. On the right bank are two different sites, the site of the ancient Roman colony and the modern town.
Archaeological excavations have revealed huge and luxurious gallo-roman building with an elaborate interior design.
Charming little shady squares, beautiful old doors, narrow cobbled streets ... your walk (walk only) will be punctuated with beautiful fountains and facades of mansions dating from the XVI and XVIII century, in the sumptuous setting of the famous Mont Ventoux and Dentelles. You will travel through 20 centuries of history of the Comtat and Provence.
